Golf Son Termens and Sierra de Tramuntana

Campos de golf

This is a very special course. Golf Son Termens is located just 10 minutes from Palma, in a beautiful valley in the foothills of the Sierra de Tramuntana. Many of the holes seem embedded in this mountain range. The course is known for its wonderful views of the mountain, Palma and the sea. Its magnificent greens, large slopes (a buggy is recommended) and of course, the harmless wild goats, are present throughout the course.

After having played golf here we recommend you set out to discover the neighbouring area of Sierra de Tramuntana. It is an area with lots to be discovered, and in this blog post we will introduce two of the classics of Sierra de Tramuntana and give you more tips in a blog post later on.

Valldemossa
Valldemossa is a small village imbedded in the mountain range Sierra de Tramuntana. The village is first and foremost famous for having the famous composer Frédéric Chopin staying in the villages monastery, with the writer George Sand. If you are curious to know more about their winter together you can read all about in Sands book A Winter In Mallorca.

Chopin has been a great contributor for putting lovely Valldemossa on the map, and thanks to this the village has established a statue for him. It is said to give you good luck to touch the statue, and extra good luck to touch the nose. That is why you can see that the nose is far more polished than the rest of the statue.

If you decide to come to Valldemossa, you definitely need to put apart some time to stroll the narrow streets of the locals. The stretched, crooked streets are filled with different types of potted plants, flowers and small trees, and every door opening you walk past could make a lovely postcard. The monastery’s garden is also well worth a visit, and offers a space of thoughtful tranquillity.

Deià
Deià is a small village which lies at the foot of Majorca’s second highest mountain Puig de Teix. The village is often described at artistic and eccentric, and most of the inhabitants who live here are involved with art in one way or the other. It is easily noticed when strolling along the narrow streets. It is also said that Deià is the spot to be if you happen to be interested in celebrity sightings. If that is the case: Clean your ears and polish your glasses!

Big tourist buses are forbidden to park in the village, and it is very hard to get builders permit. This has helped Deià to conserve its charm and originality, and we hope that will continue to be so in the future.

A winding road leads you from the village centre to the villages church Sant Joan Baptista. From the church you have a breath taking view over the terraces where the locals grow almonds and olive, and the blue Mediterranean Sea.

The harbour of Deià is found if you follow a small road down towards the ocean, which will lead you through orange and citrus groves and finally lead to the small harbour which is small and picturesque. Here you can go for a lovely swim, or have lunch at the small restaurant and enjoy the amazing view.
